Sometimes, the most breathtaking colours come from darkness
They come from change
The unchangeable is colourless.
If I could only take one lesson from January, it would be to soften! To allow for changes, detours, ups and downs, to allow for life in all its fullness and unpredictability. And to never forget to stop to look around and marvel at the beauty of it all, to never stop noticing the small things or the red skies!
We spend so much time building rigid bodies, minds and plans and we are surprised when the snap. Instead, should we strive to achieve more softness, more resilience by allowing the seasons to change us and our colours, by allowing them to reveal the brightest of our skies?
What colours (bright or not) has this month revealed in you?
“Men are born soft and supple;
dead, they are stiff and hard.
Plants are born tender and pliant;
dead, they are brittle and dry.
Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible
is a disciple of death.
Whoever is soft and yielding
is a disciple of life.
The hard and stiff will be broken.
The soft and supple will prevail.”
- Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Wishing you love and softness,
Ri
